About this Blog
This blog is an information, showcase, storytelling and promotional resource for Honors and Leadership students at CU Denver interested in the 2014 Maymester experience in Ireland. Maymester is an intense, transformative, life-changing 3-week learning opportunity that we will experience together in context — through travel, cultural ambassadorship, pub culture, food, art, music, history, politics, medicine, language, films, plays, and building deep connections with people, places and ideas — across Ireland and Northern Ireland. We’ll begin in Dublin and make our way north, across the border into Northern Ireland. There, we’ll be based in Belfast and Derry, exploring the northern coast. Next, we’ll cross back into Ireland and travel south to Galway, ending our amazing trip in Dunquin, a small village on the southeastern coast of Ireland. There, we’ll learn about the history and culture of the Blasket Islands and spend time on the Great Blasket Island and in the Blasket Centre. Please click on the Place Pages above to view details about each place and to read stories the people and ideas that we’ll meet and explore together!
I’ll update this blog frequently, and I invite and welcome questions and comments! I am passionate about Ireland and I look forward to meeting and working and learning with all of you. My hope is that you’ll fall in love with Ireland and that this amazing country and it’s people will capture your hearts and minds for a lifetime!
